   FSSAI issues show-cause notices to BigBasket, Flipkart and Gemini over oil claims

   The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued show-cause notices to BigBasket, Flipkart and manufacturer Gemini Edibles & Fats India for allegedly marketing Freedom Cooking Rice Bran Oil with unapproved health claims. The regulator said the product was promoted as reducing bad cholesterol and containing ‘10,000+ PPM Natural Oryzanol’, and that Gemini lacked a valid central ecommerce licence for selling food online.
