   China drafts export controls covering AI, biotech and solar technologies

   China on October 16, 2026 published a draft plan titled "Announcement No. 48" that would restrict exports of more than 40 advanced technologies across AI, biomedicine and photovoltaics. The draft proposes complete bans on 14 technologies and restricted exports on 26 others, and could affect downstream solar manufacturing efforts in countries including India.
