µRepRap project achieves micron-scale RepRap 3D printing with PIKA V0.02
Why it matters for readers: Means small-scale, very precise 3D printing is becoming accessible outside specialized labs, which is interesting to watch.
- µRepRap aims to be a RepRap capable of micron (1µm) and sub-micron fabrication using common, easily accessible materials.1
- PIKA V0.02 hardware achieves repeatable positioning of approximately 1µm and about 10µm accuracy in an ≈8mm cubic work area.1
- Using a fine probe etched with the PIKA mechanism, UV resin droplets as small as 4µm have been deposited and 9µm resin lines cured with a fibre optic probe.1
- An earlier MAUS version served as a flexure testbed and was documented with a bill of materials but is now deprecated in favor of PIKA compatibility.1
