   IT secretary urges mix of open and proprietary AI models to protect data

   IT Secretary S Krishnan warned that proprietary AI models can pose risks of data transfer and of models learning from user data, and called for a "judicious mix" of open and proprietary models. He said India is using a combination of models to preserve overall strategic autonomy, speaking on the sidelines of the World Development Report 2026 release.
