   SYNLAT aligns compression with syntax to shrink chain-of-thought outputs

   An arXiv paper introduces SYNLAT, a text-latent chain-of-thought (CoT) framework that compresses CoT traces by aligning compression boundaries with syntactic units. Evaluated with Qwen3 Student models on Standard-CoT and Long-CoT groups, SYNLAT matches or outperforms baselines and shows larger gains at stronger compression levels.
