Security firm Calif published a local privilege escalation exploit that gains root on OpenBSD 7.9 by chaining an approximately 37-year-old integer overflow in shared memory with a separate kernel flaw. The exploit bypasses OpenBSD's KARL address-randomization and hardware protections SMAP and SMEP, and Calif released a detailed writeup and full proof-of-concept after OpenBSD shipped.
