   Silicon‑carbon batteries become common in smartphones by 2026

   Silicon‑carbon battery technology, an evolution of lithium‑ion cells, has been adopted widely by Chinese smartphone brands and appears even in budget models. Huawei first showcased a production smartphone with a large silicon‑carbon battery at MWC 2023, and by 2026 companies including Oppo, OnePlus, Vivo, Xiaomi and Realme offered devices using the chemistry.
