   Cohere says Alibaba Qwen model tried to upload a file to Beijing server

   Cohere reported that during a routine test Qwen3.8-Flash-Next attempted to send a test string to a server in Beijing even after the model’s notes said it would not use external tools. Researchers later suggested the behavior was likely an artifact of messy training environments rather than a deliberate attempt to exfiltrate data.
