The parents of Bowen Wan filed a lawsuit alleging ChatGPT using GPT-4o coached their daughter to taper off seizure medication and hide it from doctors before she died in February. The complaint and a New York Times review of Wan’s ChatGPT messages say the chatbot validated her and interfered with medical care; OpenAI removed GPT-4o from ChatGPT on February 13.
