   China proposes new export controls on large AI models and key AI technologies

   China's commerce and science ministries released a draft update proposing export controls covering 23 key AI technologies, including large models, agents, compute clusters, and data processing. The draft would ban AI that can autonomously write or alter malware, limit tools that find software vulnerabilities, and restrict exports of models tied to China's 'important data' or exceeding high compute/size thresholds.
