   Scientists sequence genome of Jonathan, a ~194‑year‑old tortoise

   Researchers sequenced the genome of Jonathan, an Aldabra giant tortoise estimated to be about 194 years old, and identified unique gene variants linked to aging pathways. The study, published in Science Advances, found differences in DNA repair, insulin regulation, mitochondrial function, and methylation patterns that may help explain his extreme longevity.
