   OpenAI says GPT-6 greatly improves handling of legacy languages like COBOL

   OpenAI reports GPT-6 families substantially better at programming tasks in low-resource languages such as COBOL, Fortran and Visual Basic. On benchmarks it shows large accuracy gains over GPT-5.6, including high scores on a COBOL-to-modern-language migration test.
