   UK regulator opens first Online Safety Act probe into Meta over Instagram Instants

   Britain’s communications regulator Ofcom has opened its first formal investigation of Meta under the Online Safety Act, examining whether Meta properly assessed risks from the Instagram Instants feature before its May launch. Ofcom will investigate if Meta carried out a "suitable and sufficient" risk assessment for illegal content and risks to children, and Meta says it briefed Ofcom and built in protections.
