Researchers present VISTA, a training-free method that automatically selects which timesteps to apply Sequential Monte Carlo (SMC) guidance under a fixed budget. Across text, biological sequence, and image tasks, VISTA finds task-dependent schedules and generally outperforms hand-designed sparse schedules while approaching or exceeding full-guidance performance on several metrics.
