   Eye Security pushed 2M+ updates to disable risky Popcorn Time updater

   Between November 2025 and March 2026, Dutch firm Eye Security remotely pushed more than 2 million updates to machines it did not own to switch off a background updater. The updater belonged to Time4Popcorn, an abandoned copy of Popcorn Time that streamed pirated films and TV over BitTorrent and which Eye Security said could have allowed an outsider to take over machines.
