   UK announces about £600m for AI security and biosecurity programmes

   The UK government set out around £600 million to strengthen defences against health and security threats from artificial intelligence, with major funding for a new AI Biosecurity Lab. Tech firms including OpenAI, Anthropic and Google DeepMind will contribute model credits or assistance to the initiative and related programmes.
