WhatsApp testing Android call-filtering settings found in beta build
Why it matters for readers: It tells you WhatsApp may soon let you avoid ringing for unknown callers and manage privacy settings better.
- WABetaInfo discovered the new call-filtering feature in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.26.41.4.1
- The feature is under development and is not yet available for beta testing.1
- One option labeled “Never” would disable call filtering and allow notifications for both saved and unknown numbers.1
- A second option would silence calls from unknown numbers so the phone does not ring, though those calls would still appear in the Calls tab and notifications.1
- Reports indicate there is a third option being developed, but details were not fully available in the report.1
