WallHop launches a replacement for 12ft.io to skip paywalls

Image: Hacker News (100+ points)

Why it matters for readers: It's an easy way to open an article someone sent you without seeing a paywall or creating an account.

  • WallHop lets users paste a link (no https:// needed) or prefix any URL with a slash to get the article text.1
  • It provides an iPhone Shortcut and a browser bookmarklet for one-tap access from the Share button or bookmarks bar.1
  • WallHop includes /raw and /api endpoints for programmatic access to fetched articles.1
  • The project is explicitly positioned for one-off articles rather than replacing paid subscriptions to journalism.1
