ChatGPT extension can read and act on open Chrome tabs
Why it matters for readers: You can try having the assistant compare pages, summarize articles, or automate simple web tasks directly in Chrome.
- The Chrome extension can target open tabs with @chrome and Chat mode can pull data from several tabs at once.1
- Work mode uses the Computer Use capability to let the assistant send messages, fill out forms, download files, or group tabs.1
- The updated sidebar places full chat history next to the web page being viewed for easier context and reference.1
- OpenAI's examples show the extension comparing products across tabs, summarizing articles, and matching price pages from different sellers.1
- The extension update is available for all ChatGPT plans and the article names GPT-6 Astra as the best Computer Use model.1
