Arizona opens first three NEVI-funded DC fast-charging stations

Why it matters for readers: If you follow EVs, these new stations mean more places to fast-charge on key Arizona highways.
- The three new DC fast-charging sites are in Tucson, Green Valley, and Wellton along I-10, I-19, and I-8.1
- Tucson and Wellton sites are Tesla Superchargers rated at 325 kW, while the Green Valley site is a 400 kW station operated by Francis.1
- Arizona’s NEVI plan uses part of $76.5 million in federal funding to build as many as 79 stations statewide.1
- Arizona delayed bidding and construction: the state only began taking bids in January 2024, awarded first contracts in August 2024, and construction began in early 2026.1
