Apple limits Rosetta support starting with macOS 28

Why it matters for readers: If you own a Mac, know that some old Intel apps may stop working in macOS 28, so look for native updates now.
- Rosetta currently lets Intel-based apps run on Apple silicon across macOS 27 and earlier, but Apple will cut most of that support in macOS 28.1
- From macOS 28, Rosetta will be limited to select older, unmaintained games that depend on Intel-based frameworks.1
- Apple recommends replacing legacy Intel apps with Universal or Apple silicon releases via the Mac App Store, developer sites, or built-in updaters.1
- Users can identify Intel-based apps by using Finder > Get Info (Command-I) or System Settings > General > About > Details for Intel-based Apps on macOS 27 Golden Gate or later.1
- On supported macOS versions, Rosetta can still be installed automatically when opening an Intel app or manually via a Terminal command.1
